Club Strengths & Kryptonite

FOR THE CLUB REP & CLUB ADMINS

Last month, we welcomed a select group of club representatives from across the NCGA to our inaugural Club Rep Leaders Event. This invite-only gathering brought together the clubs that have shown the strongest membership growth and the highest levels of engagement with the NCGA in 2025, clubs that are setting the standard for what active, thriving club participation looks like.

We're excited to see which clubs are at the top of the list in growth and participation for the NCGA Club Rep Leaders event in 2027!  More details will be sent out in future newsletters.

Attendees connected with fellow club leaders, shared ideas on membership and programming, and heard from NCGA staff about upcoming tools and resources for club growth.  Thank you to everyone who joined us; your leadership is what makes the NCGA stronger.

During the event, clubs broke out into groups to discuss their club's Superpowers/Kryptonite and any feedback they had for the NCGA.  Linked below is a summary of their discussions.

We hope that you can use this summary as a launchpad to draw inspiration for new ideas at your own club, and pinpoint the areas where a little extra support or fresh thinking could make a big difference.

We’d also love to hear your club’s story.  At the end of the summary, you’ll find a quick link where you can share your own club’s Superpowers and Kryptonite.  Every club is unique, but when we learn from one another, we elevate the entire NCGA community.

NCGA Multi-Member Rebate Program

FOR THE CLUB REP

The NCGA Multi-Member Rebate Program will open tomorrow for members who belong to more than one club.  From July 15 - August 31, multi-members will be able to apply for their rebate by going to the NCGA Multi-Member Rebate Form below or on our website and choosing from:

$25 Poppy Hills or Poppy Ridge credit
$15 donation to the NCGA Foundation
$15 check

We are notifying NCGA members directly as well, but please feel free to include this in your own Club Communications.

There’s no extra step required from your club—everything is handled directly between the member and the NCGA, but it is contingent on the club membership dues being paid and the member being ACTIVE.

Therefore, please make sure your roster is up-to-date and club dues are paid.  The deadline to apply for the rebate is August 31.

Rules of Golf 101: My Ball is Resting Against the Flagstick, Now What?

FOR ALL CLUB MEMBERS

If you play enough golf, you’re almost guaranteed to face this moment.

You’ve hit the perfect chip, a silky pitch, or a pure putt that tracks all the way to the flagstick…and stays there, with the ball wedged against the stick at the bottom of the cup.

Now what? Does it count as holed? Can you touch the flagstick without risking a penalty—or your score?
