NCGA Club Reps -

Hope your summer is going great and you've been able to get out on the course to play!

I would like to introduce myself as I recently moved into the new role of Manager of Club Development and Analytics. I am excited to work with all of you to strengthen the NCGA's relationship with your club and to better understand the various opportunities we collectively have to help members enjoy golf more and keep your clubs vibrant and growing. These Club Rep Newsletters will continue to inform you of any new NCGA news that could benefit/impact your club and your fellow members. Since these newsletters are only sent to you as the Club Representative, you will be the first to know as you're an extension of the NCGA Team! I leave it up to you to share any pertinent information with your club's officers or members.

Stay tuned for exciting new Club Rep content that will engage, inform, and entertain. I want to be sure to provide you with information that helps you be a resource to your members and helps you personally as well. Lastly I wanted to thank you and your fellow Club Officers for volunteering your time for your club, your contributions are immeasurable to your club and the NCGA.

Rule of the Month - Principles

While our members are privy to the Rule of the Month in the eRevision, I want to give you a fun way to reinforce it with them perhaps through your own club newsletter or in conversation with them.  All of our Rules of Golf content is to help members understand how the rules can help lower their scores.

For this month we are going to the way back machine and former USGA President, Richard S. Tuft's publication, “The Principles Behind the Rules of Golf.” This publication provides key insights into the intent and purpose of the Rules of Golf.

Read the NCGA Blog on Richard Tuft here then test your knowledge on a few relevant Rules questions from the publication.

1. True or False: You can take free relief from a divot.

2. True or False: Your ball ended up in an ankle high  puddle in the fairway due to a broken sprinkler. You can take free relief from this puddle.

3. You're playing in a match play event and noticed that you hit the wrong ball out of the deep rough on your second shot. What is the  applicable penalty:

a) Go back and play the correct ball with a two-stroke penalty

b) Go back and play the correct ball with a one-stroke penalty

c) Write 50 times on the blackboard "I will not play the wrong ball"

d) Loss of Hole

Answers: 1. (f)   2. (t)   3. (d)

    Premiere Golf Club Travel Program

The NCGA has a Member Trips program of organized trips with one of our staff members.  But we recognized not everyone wants all of that – so we’ve partnered with Premiere Golf to provide golf travel packages to our clubs!

They make it super easy to organize a golf trip for your club by taking care of all the leg work. They work with resorts and courses to secure golf tee times, caddies, rooms, logistics, and even assistance with flights if needed. They will tailor trips to align perfectly with your club's goals and budget, crafting experiences that fulfill your members' wish list and beyond. The cherry on top is a free spot for the club when getting seven other paid members on the trip (so you can reduce the cost of trip for all eight people if preferred over giving the free spot to the organizer).

The NCGA will also include NCGA swag for your travelers, so pull together your members for a great trip!
