Welcome to "NCGA Club News" - our updated newsletter for keeping clubs in the know about important NCGA news and information. It usually comes out the first Wednesday of each month. If you need a link to this content, we have it on the Member Club Resources web page.
Please pass the relevant information on to the right people in your club.
The NCGA 2024 tournament and events calendar is now available, accessible through the NCGA website, and hosted on the BlueGolf platform.
Registration for events held February - May is open, with subsequent registration 'windows' to follow on April 15 and July 15. Signup reminders are sent out the first week of each month via the Monthly Tournament and Events Bulletin.
Please note that the top middle box on the master calendar is a drop-down for selecting specific programs.
Regular Clubs (private and public) compete as four-person teams with a format of 'best two balls out of four' in a series of qualifying and final events known by all as 'The Zones'. Clubs can enter the regionalized Zone Championship with male and female teams.
Associate Clubs have the Associate Club Four-Ball Net Championship and the Associate Club Championship (four-person team, best two balls out of four). These can also be male, male/female and female teams.
These events, as well as the Senior Four-Ball Net Championship, require a special 'club-entry' process; basically a club leader/club officer needs to sign their club up via a BlueGolf login.
Our website has all the info on these as well as for Scratch League and Team Match.
Rule of the Month: Abnormal Conditions The first of each month, we feature one of the many interesting aspects of the Rules of Golf to share with your club. This is a great way to reinforce learning - one rule at a time, one month at a time!
This month, it's all about abnormal conditions and embedded balls. How timely is that?! Water in the bunker, ball stuck in the mud - you need to know when relief is in order and how to take it. You do want to be confident if someone challenges you.
The USGA and R&A have rolled out several updates for 2024 and beyond. Three key features: incorporating shorter-length courses into the handicapping system, new treatment of 9-hole scores and an updated approach for holes not played.
IMPORTANT: This revision carries a mandatory educational requirement - a representative from each and every NCGA club must pass a WHS quiz no later than June 30, 2024. Your club handicap contact will be receiving an email with all the details in the next 2 weeks.
Invoices for 2024 membership will be emailed this week, you can view them now in your club memberplanet account. (Remember - memberplanet is the system of record for your active member rosters.) Forms for billing refund requests are at the bottom of the Member Club Resources web page.
