Rule of the Month - Dropping The first of each month, we feature one of the many interesting aspects of the Rules of Golf to share with your club. This is a great way to reinforce learning - one rule at a time, one month at a time!
This month, it's about dropping the ball, how hard can that be? Starting with where to drop the ball while taking relief - there are a number of considerations. If you don't do it correctly, you can watch the penalties tick up. Once you drop, how can you be assured it is an acceptable drop? When can you place it? These questions and more are served up for review.
The NCGA has engaged with one of our partners, Premiere Golf, to offer golf travel packages to our clubs, to be brokered by the club reps or other travel enthusiast in the club directly with Premiere. The NCGA does have a successful NCGA Member Trips program, but there are many members and clubs who would like to 'roll their own' and visit places we haven't yet added to our list. The trips allow for the organizing individual to get their fee complimentary!
Prior to June 30, 2024, a representative from each and every NCGA club must pass a World Handicap System quiz. By now, the lead handicap person in your club should have received their instructions. Please find out who that is and ask them. If they have not, they can go to our website Contact Us page or call NCGA Customer Support and ask for Jeff Vanderhoof.
New Club Agreement Form
The NCGA will be rolling out a new form soon to provide guidance and guidelines for NCGA Club operations. Stay tuned for future communication.
