Rule of the Month - Making a Stroke
To help encourage a prompt pace of play, the Rules suggest making a stroke in no more than 40 seconds, and even quicker than that for most shots. Read the NCGA Blog on Making a Stroke here.
I would like to highlight the sentence above in the blog that brings up pace of play. We always hear about the pace of play and how it needs to be improved, but do you ever think that golf rounds can go by too quickly?
It depends on how many times you get out to play, your skill level, who you're playing with, and if you have anything else pressing to do that day, but when I'm out on the golf course I'm usually trying to enjoy the round and the company I'm playing with. So I don't mind if the round takes me 4.5 - 5 hours.
If my foursome is zipping around 18 holes in less than 4 hours, it usually means I'm not reading my putts or just not taking the round that seriously and I get to spend less time out there with my friends 😄. On the flip side once you start getting rounds of over five hours, then somebody needs to start walking a little faster.
Let me know your thoughts, what do you think is the perfect amount of time for a round of golf? If you would like to share, send me an email here or leave a comment in the Rule of the Month Blog Post.
