19th NCGA Women’s Net Amateur Championship

April 5-6| Poppy Hills

History

The Net Championship was founded in 2007 and has always been its own, separate event. Players are divided into three flights based on Handicap Index: Big Sur, Golden Gate and Yosemite.

2016

Salinas’ Dorothy Donnelly went wire-to-wire to capture her first NCGA Women’s Net Amateur title at par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course.

Donnelly, who opened with a 1-under 70 on Monday, followed that up with an even better 69 to finish the two-day event at 139 and win by eight.

2017

Livermore’s Taylor Robles made it a wire-to-wire win, posting a final round even-par 71 to finish at 2-over 144 and defeat runner-up Suzy Duarte of Prunedale by three shots.

Robles was steady in the finale, carding six birdies to go against three bogeys and a triple-bogey.

2018

Turlock’s Bergen Benedict came from behind to win the Big Sur flight of the Women’s Net Amateur Championship Tuesday at Par-71 Poppy Hills GC. Benedict, who will be a senior on the Cal State San Marcos golf team, shot a final round 2-over 73 for a two day total of 5-over 147. Her round included four birdies and six bogeys.

2019

Young-Ah Dutton, from Indian Valley Women’s GC, took home the title in the Big Sur Flight of the annual Women’s Net Amateur Championship Tuesday at par-71 Poppy Hills. Dutton, who started the day in second place, shot a final round 1-under 70 for a 1-over 143 tournament total.

2021

Young-Ah Dutton took home the first-place prize after carding a final-round 6-under 65 to come in at 3-under 139. Finishing in second place at 145 was Michelle Lam after a 70. Gladys Gesicho was third at 146.

2022

Kelly Simpson won first place, carding a final round 1-over 72 to come in with a 36-hole total of 4-over 146. Michiko Shoji and Debra Bake finished tied for second at 151 after final rounds of 71 and 75, respectively. Shoji earned second place in a card-off. 

2023

A trio of champions was crowned at the annual event at Poppy Hills. Clare Cornelius was the winner of the Big Sure Flight, Amy Harris won the Golden Gate Flight and Brenda Rosenberg won the Yosemite Flight.
