57th NCGA Zone Championship

August 19-20 | Spyglass Hill / Poppy Hills

History

First played in 1967, the NCGA Zone Championship is a four-person team event for regular clubs. Fourteen regional championships are staged with the champion and runner-up qualifying for the final championship at the end of August. Plumas Lake G&CC holds the record for the most wins with three (2008, 2010 & 2019). Four clubs have won twice: Palo Alto Hills (1968, 1970), Del Rio G&CC (1969, 2013), Kings CC (1977, 2003) and Churn Creek GC (1993, 2012). No club has ever repeated as champion.

2016

Vallejo GC did just enough to get the job done.

The Vallejo GC squad shot a second round 8-under 136 Tuesday at par-72 Spyglass Hill to win the title at the 50th NCGA Zone Championship with a two-day score of 32-under 254. 

2017

Fresno Airways GC came through in the clutch.

Fresno Airways GC shot a final round 21-under 121 Tuesday at par-71 Poppy Hills Golf Course to finish at 40-under 246, winning the annual NCGA Zone Championship title by two shots over runner-up Crystal Springs GC. It’s the first time Fresno Airways GC has won an NCGA Zone title.

2018

Benbow GC came back to win the title at what was the 52nd annual NCGA Zone Championship.

The Benbow GC team fired a final round 19-under 125 Tuesday at par-72 Spyglass Hill to beat runner-up Vallejo GC by three shots. 

2019

Plumas Lake GC went wire-to-wire at the annual NCGA Zone Championship.

The Plumas Lake GC squad, made up of teammates Les Noggle, Brian Tahara, R.F. Martin and Mike Biehle, carded a final round 22-under 120 Tuesday at par-71 Poppy Hills to come in at 40-under 246 to defeat runner-up Monterey Pines GC by four shots.

2021

Roseville GC went wire-to-wire to win the title at the annual NCGA Zone Championship. On Tuesday, the Roseville GC squad, made up of teammates Hector Alcantar, Jesse Sierra, Bryan Lange and Steve Taylor, shot a final round 129 at Poppy Hills to come in with a winning score of 32-under 254.

2022

Chardonnay GC took the title at the annual NCGA Zone Championship.

The Chardonnay CG squad, made up of teammates Arvin Persaud, Mick Mitchell, Edwin Hidalgo and Ron Roe.

 

 

2024

Spring Creek G&CC won its first title, coming in with a score of 240. 

2023

Vallejo GC went wire-to-wire, capturing its first title since 2016.
